Heads up, Citizens of the County of Cherokee! The Conservation Board is in the process of compiling a Five-Year Conservation
Plan of Action. Our written goals will guide our activities and decisions over the next half-decade. County Conservation Board
monthly meetings and special planning meetings are always open to the public. Monthly meetings occur on the second Monday
of each month, at 7 pm. Planning meetings are scheduled at least a week in advance, and agendas are consistently posted in
public view at the Cherokee County Courthouse. Wondering when we're meeting? Call us! 712-225-6709.
At our first meeting on November 5, 2005, we prioritized our goals. Future meetings will explore action strategies. Education
and involving the public in our top priority, so join us if you are interested!
In other CCCB news... through the magic of calling a complete stranger to ask for a favor, our staff has obtained a Black
Hills mountain lion hide obtained by a South Dakota conservation officer. We are very pleased with this turn of events.
The animal will be displayed, as soon as taxidermy is completed, in the CCCB environmental education center. Watch the Chronicle
Times for an announcement!
