Mother Nature has reminded us this spring that She is in charge in the parks. Several campsites at Silver Sioux park
are too wet and/or muddy for vehicles, due to an ample supply of groundwater that is popping to the surface. This water is
clean and non-smelly, and flowing rapidly across the campground. It does, however, contain some mosquito larvae, so anyone
seeking a spot near this new waterfrontage will want to bring insect repellant.
May 18 and 19 were intended to be Free Camping nights at Silver Sioux, but we've decided to postpone the event until
June 22 & 23. Hopefully drier conditions will prevail at that time, and it will be worth the effort to provide Nature
Hikes, free music and food, and free camping to all, first come, first served. Watch the website and the Chronicle Times
or listen to KCHE in Cherokee for details!
