Actual useful information!
Well, folks, sometimes I get around to really telling you something you need to know. As opposed to my normal rambling.

Restrooms and showers are closed and winterized at Silver Sioux Park. Gates are still open on all parks, but hunting and trapping season are also open, so be smart. Wear bright colors (orange, red, chartruese, yellow) if you aren't hunting, and leave your antler-shaped hats at home. Hunters and trappers, as always, use common sense, follow the rules and know your target, your weapon and your hunting grounds. Hunt like our local game warden is hunting with you. I know I do.

The Silver Sioux Lodge is available for rent 24/7, year round. Plan a winter getaway for your family or friends! Sorry, it's already booked for Thanksgiving. Look ahead to shotgun deer season, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day, my birthday...er, uh, your birthday!

Horse trails are still open at Martin's Access. Riders should always stay on trails to avoid hunters and to protect the park ecosystem. Gates at Martin's will close at the first snowfall or by December 1, whichever comes first. Al Gore is predicting December 1.

Finally, Mom, Dad, please send money! The campaign to raise funds for an 80-acre addition to Martin's Access is underway. We need $200,000, and your tax year is coming to a close, so do us both a favor and send a check soon! Thanks!
