Cross Country Skiing
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 27, 2021 CROSS COUNTRY SKI AT REDTAIL RIDGE Let’s going skiing! Join the Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB) at Redtail Ridge for an afternoon of cross country skiing on Sunday, January 31st at 2:00pm! Cross country skiing is a low-risk, low-impact aerobic form of exercise, which makes it perfect for all ages. Take this opportunity to enjoy the snowy outdoors and try something new with your loved ones! The CCCB has equipment you can borrow during this program free of charge. Be sure to dress comfortably and in layers. On Sunday, January 31st, meet Naturalist Laura Jones at 2:00pm in the Redtail Ridge parking lot off of C44. We’ll be skiing a relatively flat, 1.5 mile loop. If you or someone in your party needs to borrow equipment (free of charge for the event), let Laura know by noon on Sunday, January 31st. She will need to know your approximate height and shoe size. If you call on the weekend, leave a message. Equipment is limited. At the time of this press release, additional snow is forecasted for Saturday. The parking lot will not be cleaned out prior to our Sunday event, so please plan accordingly. The snow is not deep enough to groom the trail prior to use, so we will be making our own tracks. Redtail Ridge is located 5 miles south of Cherokee on Hwy 59 and ½ mile west on C44. For more information, contact Laura at the Cherokee County Conservation Board by calling 712-225-6709 or e-mailing cccblaura@gmail.com. Visit us on Facebook! ### |
