FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 18, 2018
JOIN IN ON THE FOUR COUNTY FLOAT
The Cherokee County Conservation Board, Clay County, Buena Vista County, and O’Brien County Conservation Boards are partnering together to provide you with a unique opportunity to paddle the Little Sioux River with four naturalists on July 6th!
Enjoy this leisurely float down the Little Sioux River while stopping at various sandbars along the way. For those looking for plant and animal identification on their float, four naturalists will be helping with bird, mussel, and turtle identification.
At 8:30am a Paddle the River refresher program will be offered. Check-in will be from 9:00am-9:30am, with the float beginning around 9:30am. This entire event should take between 5-7 hours, depending on weather and water conditions. The float will begin at Barnes Access (Cherokee Co.) and end at Westcott Park (Cherokee Co.).
Plan on bringing a lunch and/or various snack items, dress for the weather, and wear sunscreen and bug spray.
Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak to the event or they can borrow one from one of the conservation board’s for $10/vessel. Registration is required by July 3rd and will not be accepted the morning of the event. The paddle is open to everyone, but children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
To register or for more information, contact the Cherokee County Conservation Board by calling 712-225-6709 or e-mailing email@example.com. Registration and information forms can be found at www.cherokeecountyparks.com!
