HALLOWEEN HIKE AT SILVER SIOUX RECREATION AREA
The Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB) is hosting a Halloween Hike on Saturday, October 14th at Silver Sioux Recreation Area. The night will be filled with activities for everyone from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
The evening will begin with trick-or-treating in the campground. Families can go through the campground at their leisure before 7:00pm. The CCCB is hoping to fill the park on this crisp October evening by offering free camping on Saturday to those willing to hand-out candy to the little princesses, ghouls, and monsters. Costumes and campsite decorating are encouraged!
When you’re done collecting candy, head over to the barn for pumpkin decorating! Pumpkins are limited and are first-come, first-serve. There will also be Halloween themed games.
For those looking for something a little more adventurous, take a guided hike on the haunted trail when it gets dark. Beware that this will be a moderately challenging hike. No flashlights or cellphones on the trail, please. The trail will remain open until the last group goes through.
The CCCB is looking for adult and high school volunteers who are willing to help with the evening’s activities. Volunteers are needed for the pumpkin activities, as a haunted trail guide, and those willing to work a haunted trail ‘scare’ station. Please call or e-mail if you’re interested.
In the event of inclement weather, the Halloween Hike will be cancelled. Please dress for the weather. This event is free and open to the public.
