Meriden Roadside Park

meriden.JPG

Meriden Roadside Park, once abandoned, was reopened in 2006, and includes a picnic shelter with a 10' table, a large charcoal grill, vault toilet and walking trail. The area lies just west of Meriden on State Highway 3, between the highway and the railroad. Soil conditions range from wet to dry on this 16-acre parcel, supporting diverse plant species and wildlife. Shrub plantings and native prairie grasses and forbs (wildflowers) host many native butterfly and bird species and provide a relaxing and scenic atmosphere for travellers, picnickers, and other visitors seeking a change of pace.
