The Maple River Area is 8 acres of habitat along the Maple River in southern Cherokee County.  The habitat is grassland with interspersed brush such has willows, buckthorn and some bigger trees like maples. Hunting is permitted in this area with pheasants and deer along with other small game being the primary species.
