2026 ANNUAL SHOOTING RANGE PERMIT NOW AVAILABLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 10, 2025

2026 Annual Shooting Range Permits Now Available

Ring in the new year with a new annual pass to the Licklider Shooting Complex! If you have a 2025 annual pass, it will expire soon and 2026 passes are available for purchase. The $40 annual pass covers two adults and any minors living in the same household. If you’re not a frequent user, a daily pass is required for those using the facility. The cost for a daily pass is $5/day/shooter. An annual pass can be purchased by clicking here or at the CCCB office located at 629 River Rd, Cherokee, IA.

UPDATE (January 2026): New this year is a $10/student annual permit. This covers one student under the age of 18 yrs old for the year. Student must be accompanied by an adult. This permit works well for those in shooting sports when the family doesn't have an annual permit. When the student is getting extra practice in without the team, they'll be covered by this permit!

Located at 5949 Little Sioux Road and managed by the Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB), the Licklider Shooting Complex consists of 25, 50, and 100 yard shooting ranges. Users are required to sign-in and out when using the complex as well as pay to use the facility.

An archery area was opened in August 2025 with targets ranging from 10 to 6o yards. The goal for 2026 is to install a 3-D archery range and have our trap fields operational.  An annual or daily pass is required to use the property and covers users in any of the shooting areas on the property. Once open to public use, additional fees will be required for those that trap shoot. Those additional fees will cover the cost of clay pigeons.

The Licklider Shooting Complex is tentatively closed for the months of January and February, opening in March, weather dependent. Rules for the complex and the current shooting range are available on the CCCB website, www.cherokeecountyparks.com.
