Licklider Open House

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 1, 2026

Licklider Open House

You're invited! Join us on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 2:00-5:00pm at the Licklider Shooting Complex for an Open House. We'll have staff available for tours and light refreshments available.

The Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB) received management of the Licklider Shooting Complex in 2023. Since that time, many improvements and additions have been made to the property.

The gun range has been updated with safety berms, a trap area with four fields has been installed, as well as a dedicated archery area. Those areas are currently open for the public to use. On August 2nd, each area will be staffed so visitors can ask questions and learn about impending updates.

There will be fundraising opportunities. We are looking to update shooting benches at the gun range. An example of the replacement bench will be available that day to view. You can purchase a bench and have it dedicated with a sign. Two trap fields have yet to be sponsored, so visitors will be able to see what the field sponsorship signs will look like if they would choose to sponsor a field.

The ranges will be closed to general shooting during the hours of the open house.

Located at 5949 Little Sioux Road, refreshments will be available at the trap field support building. On August 2nd, the range will be closed to general shooting from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
