CCCB HOSTS SUMMER CAMPS

The Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB) is hosting four summer day camps this year. Offered annually, these camps include Water Wonders 1 & 2, Adventure Camp, and a Jr. Naturalist Camp. Also, the CCCB will be partnering with the Plymouth County Conservation Board to offer an overnight canoeing event called River Ramblers.

Jr. Naturalist Camp is geared towards 3-5 year olds and their guardian. This camp involves stories and hands-on activities like games and crafts. It runs June 14-16 from 9:00am-11:00am at Spring Lake Park. Registration is required by June 8th.

Adventure Camp will be offered June 21-23 and focuses on outdoor survival, recreational activities, and citizen science projects for those who have completed 5th and 6th grades. Registration is due by June 15th. Camp will run from 9:00am-11:30am and participants will meet at Spring Lake Park.

River Ramblers runs from July 12-14 and is for those who have completed 6th-8th grades. Participants will spend a day canoeing the Little Sioux River with two overnight stays at Martins Access. This event is a partnership with Plymouth County and has a $60 fee to cover food and some materials. Registration is required by July 6th.

“Water Wonders” is the theme of camp this year. Participants will learn a little bit about water, wetlands, and the animals that use them. Camp will be offered July 19-21 for those that have completed K-1st and July 26-28 for those that have completed 2nd-4th. Registration is due by July 13th for Water Wonders 1 and July 20th for Water Wonders 2.   Camp will run from 9:00am-11:30am and take place at Spring Lake Park.

Camps are offered free of charge, with the exception of River Ramblers, which has a $60 fee. Each camp has limited space. Please register participants only if they plan on attending, not to reserve a space in case they might attend. Don’t send your participant to camp if they are not feeling well.
