CCCB HOSTS SUMMER CAMPS
The Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB) is hosting five summer camps this year. The offered annually camps include Summer Day Camp, Adventure Camps, and Eco Avenger Camp. Also, the CCCB will be partnering with the Plymouth County Conservation Board to offer a canoeing and overnight event called River Ramblers.
Adventure Camp will be offered June 26-28 and focuses on outdoor survival and various recreational activities for those who have completed 5th and 6th grades. Potential hands-on activities that may take place this year include canoeing/kayaking, archery, fire starting, map reading, and more! Registration is due by June 20th.
“Water Wonders” is the theme of the Cherokee County Conservation Board’s Summer Day Camp this year. Participants take a look at plants and animals in our local water ecosystems. Camp will be offered July 17-19 for those who have completed grades K-1st this last school year and July 24-26 for those who have completed 2nd-4th grades. Registration is due by July 11th and 18th. WATER WONDERS 2 IS FULL.
Both camps will be held at Spring Lake Park in Cherokee. Camp runs from 9:00am-11:30am each day and begins at the new shelter (old Yacht Club location). Space is limited to 12-15 participants. Both camps are offered free of charge.
Eco-Avenger Camp is geared towards those who have completed 7th-8th grades. This camp involves hands-on conservation and natural resource management. It runs June 19-21 from 9:00am-12:00pm at the CCCB office. Registration is required by June 13th.
River Ramblers runs from July 10-12 and is for those who have completed 6th-12th grades. Participants will spend a half day learning water safety and two days canoeing the Little Sioux River with an overnight stay at Martins Access. This event has a $30 fee to cover food and some materials. Registration is required by July 3rd. RIVER RAMBLERS IS FULL.
